Amber Lyons is an Ordained Pastor, who preaches and teaches the unadulterated gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Being a strong woman of faith and diligently serving in ministry to assist in birthing the visions and dreams of others, did not exempt her from living a secret life filled with years of abuse. She wore a mask to hide the pain and suffering, however, she yet remained faithful to her call to the Lord and her spiritual leaders. Amber emerged from that dark place in her life as a successful Survivor and Thriver with a Passion to help others suffering in silence.
She is the Founder & CEO of From Pain To Purpose, which is an organization that provides Domestic Violence Awareness Advocate (DVAA) services within the community. From Pain To Purpose was originally birthed with the vision to aid and support domestic violence victims and children suffering in silence. However, it has since become so much more. Our work is now a community based resource working with organizations and churches to Educate, Equip, Empower and Encourage the community at large pertaining the intervention and prevention of domestic violence and abuse. We provide Motivational Speaking, Workshops, Q&As, Panel Discussions, Mentorship, Poetry Reading and various other Events through Partnerships and Projects.
Amber is a Brooklyn, New York native. The first couple of years of her organization’s work was established within the New York City area, with organizations such as The New York City Mayor’s Office To Combat Domestic Violence, The New York City Family Justice Center (of which she transitioned from a former client to volunteer helping other DV victims), The Avon Foundation For Women, The Urban Justice Center-DV Project, and other organizations. She was the Coordinator of her former church’s (New Life Cathedral) 1st Domestic Violence Awareness Day in October 2010.
Over the past six months since being an Atlanta resident, she has transitioned very smoothly into the community. From Pain To Purpose has become a viable resource to many organizations and churches in the Metro Atlanta Area. We have presented Domestic Violence Awareness Film Screenings at organizations and churches, various Workshops, Broadcasted as a Weekly Co-host on A Woman’s Heart Blog Talk Radio, appeared as a DVAA Guest on Various Blog Talk Radio Shows, been featured on various Blog Sites, filmed a One Hour Domestic Violence Awareness WAIN TV Show, as well as working with organizations on Violence In Teen & Young Adult Dating. We are presently working with Virtuous Styls to bless two Stinson & Associates Clients with a Styling & Makeover Session at the end of February. Atlanta, we are just getting started!
No one ever deserves to be abused. Domestic violence is a cycle that just gets worse, and Yes, it is a crime. Never believe that being abused is your fault. Find the strength to seek help if you are in an abusive relationship. Children who suffer in silence sustain so much damage that may take years to recover from, so if you can’t seek help for yourself, do it for your children (if you have them). Also, domestic violence is a Public Safety issue, therefore, it behooves everyone to become knowledgeable and aware of available resources to offer others (family member, co-worker, etc.), who may be suffering. You are Not Alone!!!! You can transition From Pain To Purpose!!!!
Amber Lyons is the proud mother of three children; NaQwanna Thomas, Janelle Lyons and Emmanuel Lyons. Another one of her passions, is to manage and nurture the career of her youngest child, Emmanuel Lyons, who is a 13 year old Professional Actor and Inspirational Rapper & Songwriter. To her delight and surprise; one of his songs is a DVA song, entitled “Elmo”, which he wrote to add his voice to speak out against Domestic Violence
