I love the fresh and new, and meeting people who are living their dreams.
By day I’m a business woman, a mother, a wife, and a friend. But, by night I metaphorically transform into Oh! Nikka…The Undercover Socialite; a Diva who’s all about what’s new and happening around town.
If I had to describe myself what comes to mind is that 80’s commercial for Enjoli perfume where the jingles goes “I can bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan…” Only, I’m no world renowned chef in some five star restaurant. I am simply a woman who has a passion for living life in style. So in my case “bacon” would be “the story”, and “frying it up in a pan” would be like “giving you the lowdown on what’s happening around town”. I know; I know….it’s not as catchy as the Enjoli ad, but you get the picture (I hope).
Growing up in Humble Texas (a real place by the way) I remember getting all glammed up just after raiding my mom’s makeup and my aunts’ shoe collection and then parading around the house. At some point we’ve all been caught with our hand in the makeup jar, and this was the makings of my story. I guess you could say I was a “Diva in training” since I loved putting trendy styles together and then flaunting my new finds in my very own mini fashion shows for anyone who would lend a willing ear to hear me sing, dance, and sashay down the runway. My family always said I had a larger than life personality. I guess I just wanted to be heard; which is ironic since I haven’t been able to keep quiet since. My mother and aunt inspired me with their sense of fashion and their love for family and respect for others; and my hope is to inspire others to Live Their Dreams…in Style!!!

1881 Event Planning & Design is a social event planning company based in Atlanta, Georgia.
This company was started by three phenomenal women who bring over 15 years of event planning expertise to their clients. As graduates of Spelman College, the ladies of 1881 wanted to pay tribute to the institution, which brought them together. The name of the company lovingly reflects the founding year of their beloved alma mater. For Pamela, Ericka, and Renata nothing is more important than flawless execution of their client’s vision. Finding an event planner to truly do it all is a challenge but 1881 Events solves this problem by equipping each client with a team that will handle all of the details, customize the event with unique graphic designs, and evoke an experience guests will never forget. Although their planning experience has crossed the gamut, the primary focus of 1881 Event Planning & Design is on small social events of 75 guests or less. Each of these ladies has unique strengths which—when combine—makes them a dream team of event planners. Pamela Franklin Stegall is a native of Atlanta. She holds a Bachelors degree in Theatre from Spelman College and has extensive experience in backstage management. She is often asked to manage the backstage events for high profile theater productions and was most recently asked to assist with the tribute to the unveiling of the Martin Luther King, Jr. national monument, entitled “A Monumental Life,” at Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. In April 2010, she added filmmaker to her list of accomplishments in her production of the documentary Fly, Sista, Fly, which chronicled the lives of three Pauline E. Drake Scholars—“seasoned women” who chos e to attend Spelman College. Pamela believes that all events are just productions in disguise. She designs events the same way a Broadway producer approaches a theatrical production—making sure that the stars shine and the guests are glad they came!
Ericka A. Thomas is a native of Atlanta. She holds a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science from Spelman College and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. She absolutely loves every aspect of planning an event. Ericka has a passion for graphic design and is able to quickly conceptualize a theme and use creative elements to generate visual presentations for our events. Her easy‐going personality, meticulous attention to detail, and amazing budget management skills prove to be a valuable asset to the 1881
Event Planning & Design Dream Team. Renata Hilson is a native of New Orleans but has called Atlanta home for quite some time. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Spelman College and a Master of Public Health degree from Emory University. Her
passion for event planning began during graduate school, where she was enrolled full‐time, had several part time jobs, and pulled all‐nighters planning her own wedding! If hiring an event planner were in her budget at the time, she would have gladly done so. This is why she is so happy to be part of an event planning company that caters to a wide range of budgets and client needs Renata is the “research detective” for all of our events. Her logistical skills, creativity, and fun personality make her an extraordinary member of their team.Their motto “Relax…and let us handle the details!” says it all. From innovative concepts to flawless execution, their goal is to take the stress out of planning so their clients can enjoy every moment of their special occasion.

Amber Lyons is an Ordained Pastor, who preaches and teaches the unadulterated gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Being a strong woman of faith and diligently serving in ministry to assist in birthing the visions and dreams of others, did not exempt her from living a secret life filled with years of abuse. She wore a mask to hide the pain and suffering, however, she yet remained faithful to her call to the Lord and her spiritual leaders. Amber emerged from that dark place in her life as a successful Survivor and Thriver with a Passion to help others suffering in silence.
She is the Founder & CEO of From Pain To Purpose, which is an organization that provides Domestic Violence Awareness Advocate (DVAA) services within the community. From Pain To Purpose was originally birthed with the vision to aid and support domestic violence victims and children suffering in silence. However, it has since become so much more. Our work is now a community based resource working with organizations and churches to Educate, Equip, Empower and Encourage the community at large pertaining the intervention and prevention of domestic violence and abuse. We provide Motivational Speaking, Workshops, Q&As, Panel Discussions, Mentorship, Poetry Reading and various other Events through Partnerships and Projects.
Amber is a Brooklyn, New York native. The first couple of years of her organization’s work was established within the New York City area, with organizations such as The New York City Mayor’s Office To Combat Domestic Violence, The New York City Family Justice Center (of which she transitioned from a former client to volunteer helping other DV victims), The Avon Foundation For Women, The Urban Justice Center-DV Project, and other organizations. She was the Coordinator of her former church’s (New Life Cathedral) 1st Domestic Violence Awareness Day in October 2010.
Over the past six months since being an Atlanta resident, she has transitioned very smoothly into the community. From Pain To Purpose has become a viable resource to many organizations and churches in the Metro Atlanta Area. We have presented Domestic Violence Awareness Film Screenings at organizations and churches, various Workshops, Broadcasted as a Weekly Co-host on A Woman’s Heart Blog Talk Radio, appeared as a DVAA Guest on Various Blog Talk Radio Shows, been featured on various Blog Sites, filmed a One Hour Domestic Violence Awareness WAIN TV Show, as well as working with organizations on Violence In Teen & Young Adult Dating. We are presently working with Virtuous Styls to bless two Stinson & Associates Clients with a Styling & Makeover Session at the end of February. Atlanta, we are just getting started!
No one ever deserves to be abused. Domestic violence is a cycle that just gets worse, and Yes, it is a crime. Never believe that being abused is your fault. Find the strength to seek help if you are in an abusive relationship. Children who suffer in silence sustain so much damage that may take years to recover from, so if you can’t seek help for yourself, do it for your children (if you have them). Also, domestic violence is a Public Safety issue, therefore, it behooves everyone to become knowledgeable and aware of available resources to offer others (family member, co-worker, etc.), who may be suffering. You are Not Alone!!!! You can transition From Pain To Purpose!!!!
Amber Lyons is the proud mother of three children; NaQwanna Thomas, Janelle Lyons and Emmanuel Lyons. To her delight and surprise; one of his songs is a DVA song, entitled “Elmo”, which he wrote to add his voice to speak out against Domestic Violence
